BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?

Bradi -I had an identity crisis when I became a mom. For so long I described myself as the Ad Manager at Marie Claire and suddenly I wore an entirely different hat, with a much different title- one to me at the time that had less cache. I realized then that being a mother was going to be more challenging than I had ever imagined. Although, 11 years later, I'd call myself quite the pro!

BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?
Bradi -Hard to say any one moment has been the most memorable: riding bikes at the beach, camp visiting day, or any moment that we've engaged in a fun activity, as a foursome.

BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood.  Any advice for new moms?
Bradi -Biggest challenge is being able to define myself as more than a mom. For some, that works just fine- for me, not so much. I've always needed something to call my own, independent of my family. I guess that was the fuel for becoming an entrepreneur. I would say that full time stay at home moms shouldn't wait to decide what they want to do when they grow. Empty Nesters often wrestle with this dilemma. Have something to fall back on: a hobby, part-time job, something outside of caring for your kids.

BCM - What was the inspiration behind My Work Butterfly?

Bradi - MyWorkButterfly.com was born out of the conversations had with over one thousand moms, most of whom, were wrestling with work/life options after having been crowned, MOM. I wanted to help them find solutions, advice and support!

BCM - How can Big City Moms take advantage of your site?
Bradi -Moms who are contemplating a return to work and working moms who are striving for work/life harmony can all benefit from the Butterfly community. It's a journey that we can take together instead of alone.

BCM - How do you manage your work life balance?
Bradi - It's quite ironic that I set out to help moms manage work/life fit and, as long as we are being honest here, lost some of my own in the process. Since the build-out of Butterfly in 2009, I have learned not to lose myself entirely in something as important as my family. I think this realization has allowed me to achieve my own work/life harmony.

BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your kids?
Bradi - I like the simple things when it comes to being with my kids: at-home movie night, bike riding at the beach, mini-golf (my 8 year old is better than me!) Truthfully, I enjoy anytime they're not fighting!

BCM- What has been your favorite Big City Moms event to date?
Bradi - I'm partial to the biggest baby shower because I know how exciting it is to prepare for a baby. Even though I am not expecting (two is all that I can handle) it is wonderful to see all of the resources BCM puts forth during such a memorable time in a woman's life.

FUN FACTS:

BCM- I’m totally obsessed with

Bradi -Being there for my kids and exercise I suppose.

BCM- My biggest influence is

Bradi -Women who are successful in work and in life have my deep admiration. That's been the biggest motivator for me to take chances in life.

BCM - My Guilty pleasure is....
Bradi -Losing myself in trashy magazines!

BCM - Favorite NYC Restaurant....
Bradi -To me, the company is more important than the restaurant!
