BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?
Eden - It's obvious a child will change your life- how you navigate through your mornings, nights or weekends focused solely on the children. It's when I am not with my children, that I truly realize how my life changed. While I'm at work, I'm considering my work-related conferences and dinners impact on my home life. I'm carving out time to schedule and manage the home-front's moving pieces. On my way to and from work, I'm picking up necessities/presents for the kids. In short, I am always multi-tasking! But being a mom has also made me more relaxed and allows me to enjoy more of the simplicities of life.
BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom? Eden -There are countless memorable moments, like the milestones, vacations and events. But it's the short clips of everyday life- playing music together, bathtime, or our bedtime rituals that leave the biggest smiles on my face.
BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood. Any advice for new moms?
Eden -I thought being an involved aunt to 8 kids was solid practice, but each child pitches their own curveball. My advice is to borrow the playbooks, but to stick with your own instincts. (Sorry for the analogy, but I'm practicing for my life with two boys!)
BCM - How do you manage your work life balance?
Eden -It's more of a juggle! I need to be mobile, so I rely heavily on keeping my files on a cloud so I can access everything I need from my Blackberry, PC or Mac to keep me in touch and organized. My work allows me the flexibility to be with my children for doctors' visits and school/class events. I flip flop my day between my children and work. Each day is different, so I need to be as nimble as possible to acheive even half of what I set out to do. I must also highlight my husband who is a true partner and a very involved dad.
BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ Emmett and Tyler?
Eden -We try and take advantage of the city's museums and parks when we're in town. In the summers, it's definitely playing on the beach or by the pool. But mostly, we like to have family playdates with friends and family and share the experiences. At home, the beach or the park our dog Sophie is probably the most entertaining activity for the boys.
BCM- What has been your favorite Big City Moms event to date?
Eden -My first new mom lunch was such a great opener for me. My friend and I went together and met fantastic women who are now our friends. Every BCM event since has brought me closer with my friends and the mom community.
