Chloe Rose - 3

BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?
Kristy - How did it not!?!? I went through the same adjustments, compromises and newfound insecurities that all first time Moms do. But, to be honest, Jonathan and I made a pact before Chloe was born that we didn't want to lose "us" completely. Of course we do the parks, playtime and Friday night movie nights in, but we've also taken her to our favorite haunts like Hayden Planetarium, the beach and brunch at our little cafe. The truth is you don't need to change your life, you just need to figure out a way to make the worlds melt together so their fun is your fun. It's been amazing to see the world through her eyes.

BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?

Kristy - In three years there have been so many firsts that made me fall to pieces. But a memory that stands out is being in Florida on vacation and having dinner at a beautiful restaurant outside at sunset. Music was playing and Chloe stood up in her chair and started belting out Alicia Keys "New York State of Mind". When her performance was done (and she was laying on the floor) she said Mommy, I love you and I really love eating fish. That was it. She was two.

BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood. Any advice for new moms?

Kristy - I am extraordinarily blessed in having a huge support system around me. My Mom, Dad, Sister and Mother and Father-in-Law have all had a huge hand in helping us with Chloe. I love that I have such a close knit support system of family and friends around me, it makes it easy and comforting to know she's always in such great care when she's not with me. My advice - there's something to be said about the expression that it takes a village to raise a child. Everyone's situation is different, find one that works for you that allows you to 1. Be the Mommy YOU want to be and 2. Be sane. When you find that balance you realize you can have it all.

BCM - How do you manage your work life balance?
Kristy -Support. Family. Laughter. Coffee. Wine. Sleeplessness. Not necessarily in that order. I try to make a conscious effort to focus on whatever it is I'm doing 100%. I don't like not giving whatever it is I'm doing my all. When I'm laying in the grass looking at the clouds with Chloe, I'm totally just a Mom seeing animal shapes in the clouds. When she's at school or a playdate I'm cramming 15 hours of business into a few short hours. And when I need help, I ask for help....even SuperMoms need an extra hand sometimes. Chloe and my family are first, everything else is second. That rule doesn't ever get broken.

BCM - Congratulations on your new company BuggyLove! What was the inspiration behind it?
Kristy - Thanks! I think most people in the industry are inspired by their kids, as we are. Our company came to be out of a need for something we searched for that we couldn't find in the marketplace. Amazingly enough, in an industry as saturated as the Baby industry, no organic cleaning kit for strollers exists! Living in Union Square we didn't have a hose and bucket of soap to use daily! Bringing our stroller in our apartment everyday after I knew where it had been frankly started to gross me out. I literally had a dream one night and when I woke up I told my husband I had a dream that we started a company called BuggyLOVE. I never looked back. PS - did I mention I'm a major neat freak??

BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your kids?

Kristy - I love it all. A day with Chloe is better than a day anywhere else. I love when she wants to shop or just take "her babies" for a walk. I love seeing her dance and sing or watching from the sidelines as she meets new friends and climbs a slide. Her current favorite hobby is going to "fancy restaurants", overdressing and over accessorizing. It's amazing how someone wearing 10lbs of plastic jewelry can look so damn cute.

BCM - What has been your favorite Big City Moms event?
Kristy - BCM has been unbelievably supportive and welcoming to us! The Biggest Baby Shower blew our minds. We met some amazing women there and cannot wait until LA!
