BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?
Nadine - Everything changed for the better. Life wasn't just about me and my own needs...my days begin with them and end with them. My oldest, Niree just turned 13 this past summer and I stand in amazement of the wonderful young lady she is becoming, followed by my best little helper in the world G'nay who's heart is bigger then the world and then I have my handsome son, Jayden who's turning one this December. My life has never felt so complete and I couldn't imagine my life without them
BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?
Nadine -I cannot chose one..there are soooo many. From the first cry in the delivery room, that first touch, when you hear "mama" for the first time, first steps..there are too many to count..but I guess that most memorable moment must be during each of my deliveries..that final push when I was exhausted, epidural wearing out. out of steam and ready to give up I could hear my grandfather say.."la mano de Dios pasará sobre usted y su dolor se olvidará" which means the hand of God will pass over you and all your pains will be forgotten..and as soon as I saw that precious face all that pain that lead up to that moment was gone....what a moment!
BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?
Nadine - My biggest challenge is finishing my own educational goals while being a full time working mom. I couldn't finish my degree like I wanted to due to reasons that now seem sooo minimal but today is a new day and I WILL get my degree that I've worked so hard to obtain. I want to set an example for my children to do/be better then me, get your education first and foremost and everything else will fall into place.
BCM-Any advice for new moms?
Nadine - Enjoy everyday with your babies!!! Time waits for no one and when you have children it seems to go by even faster...Don't sweat the small stuff! Snuggle on cold days, crawl around on the floor and see life from your toddlers eyes..It's okay to be silly and it's ok if you don't know everything all the time..you can always Google. LOL
BCM - How do you manage your work life balance?
Nadine - I'm still trying to work this out. I had been laid off for two years and I just started working again..(thank goodness!!) Luckliy I have a great support system from Joseph (soon to be husband..patiently waiting for my ring(wink..wink)..), my mom, aunt's and sister. My little village is definitley helping me with my children and attempting to balance this scale.
BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your kids?
Nadine - We like going on walks in our neighborhood and venturing out to new places, parks, playgrounds. Hanging out in the house, playing board games, watching movies..just spending time with one another is the master plan!
BCM - What has been your favorite Big City Moms event?
Nadine - I have enjoyed many of the Big City Moms events, from the expectant dinners(I soooo miss;(..) to the Valentines's Day, Mother's Day events, but the most exciting hands down event has to be the Biggest Baby Shower!!! I love this event.
