BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?  

Tali - Once it clicked that every move I made and every word I said was being studied and absorbed by this little sponge, a shift took place.  I realized that I had to pause and consider what I wanted my son to learn from each moment and each exchange. Parenting definitely challenges you to step up your game as a human being. I’m far from perfect, but I keep on trying.    

BCM - What has been your most memorable moment as a mom? 

Tali -The moment my son was placed in my arms, was this indescribable all encompassing joy.  

BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?  

Tali -Trying to strike a balance between letting go and being protective.

What was the inspiration for starting the company?   

Tali -My son’s first attempt at the word “mama” was such a thrill, I wanted to wear the memory. Today, years later, when I walk down the street and see women wearing their Mama necklaces, it feels like a nod to the solidarity between Moms.  We all feel the highs and lows, the treasured moments and the challenges, that define motherhood. The mama necklace is a sparkly token of the little miracles we made.

BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your son?  

Tali -We are so fortunate to live where we do, and to have access to everything NYC and the tri-state area have to offer.  Theatre, museums, playgrounds in the city, and pumpkin picking just a ride away. This past weekend we went to a lightsaber battle in Washington Square Park, a few months back walking down Park Avenue, we saw Will Ryman’s gigantic roses installation, and luckily a day before it closed, got to enjoy Rainbow City, a pop-up bouncy castle-like playground just below the Highline.  There are always fun surprises in this great city, and we love discovering them together.    

BCM - What has been your favorite Big City Moms event?

Tali -I’ve met great women at every event, but I think the Biggest Baby Shower is my favorite. Shopping, spa treatments, getting to meet with the top baby product vendors, and of course, mingling with all the Moms and Moms-to-be...such a fun night out, I look forward to it every year.
