Car Seat Review: Nuna AACE Booster Seat

It’s Child Passenger Safety Week, a week dedicated to educating parents and caregivers on the best practices and tips for a child in a car seat.

The decision to switch my oldest daughter to a high-back booster seat was a big one. I not only wanted to make sure that she fit the height and weight requirements, but I also wanted to make sure she was mature enough to sit in a seat without a five-point harness.

Shortly after her seventh birthday and her seven year check up, we decided to move her to a seat that used the shoulder belt rather than the five-point harness. We chose the newest car seat from Nuna, the AACE Booster Seat. The AACE booster converts from a high-back booster seat to a backless booster seat when she is old enough to do so.

Not only was I impressed with all of the features of the Nuna AACE, but the ease of those features.

The Nuna AACE has a one-handed seat recline so that your child is not only safe, but comfortable.

The AACE booster seat easily adjusts three depths giving growing legs plenty of support and space. Simply grab the handle in the seat of the booster and the seats slides in or out to adjust to their leg length.

The AACE features Side Impact Pods (SIP) that easily pop in and out. Simply press the button on the SIP and it pops out for then the car seat is in use. Press them back in for when the car seat is not in use.

The AACE features lower anchor connectors that allow the car seat to recline in eight different positions when used as a high-back booster (as noted above) and it also allows you to easily secure the car seat to your car’s seat while in the car.

One of my favorite feautres of the Nuna AACE is the one-handed height adjustment. Simply pull on the lever and adjust the height of the car seat. Not only does the headrest of the seat adjust when you do this, but the shoulders of the car seat also expand out to accomodate your childs growth. We all know that when our children grow taller, their shoulders grow wider and this is exactly why Nuna created this feature in their car seat. It is a car seat that comfortably grows with your child.

One of the things I was most concerned about when switching my daughter from a harness to a seat belt was that I wanted to make sure her belt was fitting properly. The belt positioner on the AACE aids in correct shoulder belt routing and minimizes user error.

To switch your car seat from a high-back booster to a backless booster could not be more simple. Simple recline the back of the booster all the way back and unhook it. It works the same way to put the back on.

The Nuna AACE also comes with a cup holder that is easliy clipped in either side . The AACE is recommended for use for high back booster with children from 40 to 110 lbs and 38 to 60 in. , For a backless booster mode, the AACE recommends that children be 50 to 120 lbs and 38 to 60 in. The seat weighs 15.6 pounds and comes in four colors.

It’s available now on the Nuna website for $249.95.
