BCM - How did your life change when you became a dad?

Adam - The simplest way to describe it is like having your life go from a black and white movie to a 3-D color blockbuster. Really, it’s much more profound than that. Every aspect of my life has changed. I absolutely love being a father. So much so, that I am even blogging about it on my site, www.dadarocks.com. I never thought I would be that person—the one who offers advice to other dads, but here I am.   Having become so inspired by my own son, I am hoping to encourage other dads to become more involved with their kids.  I have given advice on which apps are good play actives and learning for your child on your iPhone, making sure you’ digital pictures are backed up correctly, and occasional personal stories--like how we got Marc to sleep though the night.  DaDaRocks.com is a blog for many topics, but mainly a place where dads (and moms) can also seek advice and voice concerns no subjects.  The blog response has been overwhelming and I am already thinking ahead about all of the cool things the blog can provide to visitors.

BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a dad?

Adam -Of course, watching my son being born was the most memorable moment. No other moment can compare with meeting my little boy for the first time. Another memorable moment—and one I was allowed to capture on film was watching him take his first steps toward me.

BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in fatherhood?

Adam - I think that going from just me, to my wife and me, to now a family of three creates some pressure in the sense that I now have 2 people whom I want to see secure and happy. So I would say, the biggest challenge is now I worry a lot more than I used to, but it’s all worth it!

BCM - How do you balance your work life and your personal life?

Adam - It’s always a tightrope walk. The demands of work and family don’t always sync,  but luckily my current job allows some flexibility. For example, I am able to work a schedule that allows me to come in a little later in the morning  so I get more time with my son each week day.  I also like to make sure I am around every day for at least one bonding experience.  Whether it is feeding my son breakfast or bath time, we both enjoy these moments.    There are exceptions to every week, but I always remember that my son and my wife are the priority.

BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your son?

Adam - We love going to the park and playing on the swings and other equipment. Occasionally, I am able  to attend the gym classes he takes and I love watching him play with other kids. We also love to hang out on the couch and watch Yo Gabba Gabba—his favorite.

BCM - Which BCM event was your favorite?

Adam - My favorite Big City Mom event would have to be the Kidville Halloween party which my lovely wife, Suzanne Cohen photographed. Of course, having my own little monster in a costume was lots of fun too!
