BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?
Audrey– The first time my oldest son told me he loved me. Ahh... that moment still gets me. I was tucking him into his crib, he was about 15 months old... and I was turning off his light. I had said to him, "William... I love you." And as I was about to close the door I heard him say, "I wove ew." It melted my heart right on the spot. It was one of the moments in time you just remember and lock into your memory bank.
BCM - If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?
Audrey– Enjoy the moments. I didn't really start to do this until we had our 3rd son. The moments go by so fast... you look up and they're 5! The best advice my mother gave me was to just enjoy the moments... don't worry if the laundry isn't put away every night. Don't worry if the kitchen sink needs to be emptied. This all can be done and will be gotten to... but enjoy the precious moments of time.
BCM - With 4 young boys, your website, and your multiple ventures: whats your recipe for work/life balance?
Audrey– Ahh... the balance! I have to be honest, every single day is a new day. I don't always do the best at balancing everything. I always try my best to give 100% to my sons and to my work and to my life. I don't do everything at once. I really have had to create boundaries - there's work time, there's family time and there's "me" time. It's always a work in progress for me... always!
BCM - Congrats on the success of Mom Generations. Why did you create the site and what types of information can you find?
Audrey - I started Mom Generations in 2008 because I felt there was a need for straight Mom Fashion talk. There are so many websites that people contribute to with beauty/fashion advice, but there wasn't a daily check-in. There wasn't a site with one voice. I wanted to create that voice through Mom Generations.
Mom Generations is more geared toward mom fashion advice, and I also have my personal blog there, too. I love being able to share fashion advice from my Donna Karan days... talk and share and laugh and vent about my personal life... as well as talk about some of the latest and greatest in kid fashion.
BCM - What advice do you have for other moms who are thinking about starting businesses?
Audrey -My advice would be to go for it! It's a lot of blood, sweat and tears - but it is SO WORTH it in the long run. I wake up every single day excited to head to my computer and tackle the blogging world. It excites me. It fuels me. It's my passion. If you have a true passion for something... you can do anything and be anyone! Not to mention, find a support group = these cheerleaders will rally with you... help you on days you need it and be your loudest cheering section on days you want it!
BCM - What types of activities do you like to do with your sons?
Audrey -I have 4 sons - William is 5, Alexander is 4, Benjamin is 3 and Henry is almost 2... my sons love to RUN and PLAY! They're never still! They love to play outside on their playground. They love to play baseball in the front yard and go on treasure hunts around the backyard. I try to keep them as active as I possibly can because they just love to be on-the-go! They all do love to read and draw.
BCM- What has been your favorite Big City Moms event to date?
Audrey - The NYC Baby Shower was AMAZING! I met so many wonderful women. I met so many wonderful vendors. Everyone was beyond gracious and kind and generous with their time. Not to mention, the event was beautiful.
