BCM- How did your life change when you became a mom?
Sara -
How did it not?!  Everything is different.  You certainly aren't the most important person in the room but neither is your husband.  Your baby is everything. The best thing that could ever be!

BCM- What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood.  Any advice for new moms?
Sara -
At first it was just changing her ;) Actually I thought teaching her how to eat solid foods was actually scarier then giving birth.  My honey had a very hard time learning to eat and gave me many scares. It did force us to take CPR very early on!
My advice would be try not to sweat the small stuff.  There are so many things you can worry about you can drive yourself crazy.  Take a deep breath before you want to get nervous, it is probably nothing.

BCM- What types of activities do you like to do with Lily?
Sara -
A Going to Central Park and the playground had always my favorite. We take many classes but recently my daughter has become quite the singer so now our music class is my absolute favorite. Overnight she has become very vocal and has learned to sing many songs. I can't imagine anything cuter.

BCM- What was the inspiration behind Sara Snacker?  Tell us about your company?
Sara -
I have been baking since I was a little girl.  I just always loved it ever since my first Easy Bake Oven. I would do it for fun every once and a while until I starting entertaining my friends in college.  When several of them said I should try to sell them I thought they were joking.  It turned into a a full fledge business while I was in school. I ended up putting it on hold after I graduated but always new I would come back to it at some point. I actually thought it might be closer to when I was a grandmother but then I got pregnant with my first.  I was in the Entertainment industry at the time and did a lot of flying back and forth to LA- something I knew I didn't want to do after I had a child at home.  I was so stressed out about figuring what I was going to do next because I knew I wanted to continue working, that I kept on baking for everyone.  That is when I realise this is what I should be doing and it was the best decision I ever made.

Sara Snacker Cookie Company is a company that specializes in unique and fun specialty cookies and treats.  I create flavors that remind me of childhood and hopefully bring a smile to your face.  We have homemade Tootsie Rolls and apple hand pies in the shape of an apple. I have a Candypop(tm) cookie that has crushed lollipops on the inside and a gumball center. My signature cookie is the Chipn'etzel-which is a shortbread baked with pretzel and potato chips inside with dark or white chocolate on top.  That's just to name a few.

Where can you purchase the cookies?
Sara -
The cookies are available at numerous locations throughout the tri-state area and more; you can see the list  here

Also, everything is available online in gourmet, made-to-order gift boxes.

Can you share some advice for moms who are planning to start their own company?
Sara -
My biggest piece of advice I could give is know your product. Only get involved if you are extremely passionate about what you want to do. It is a lot of hard work and no one will care about your product as much as you. You have to own it and make sure going in, this is something you can see yourself doing for a long time. You will be living and breathing what you are doing when you start your own business so making sure what you are about to get involved in is worth the precious time it will take away from your little ones. If it is something that you love and believe in it is absolutely worth it.

BCM- How do you manage your work/life balance?
Sara -
It is certainly a challenge but I feel very fortunate for my situation. I have worked hard to develop a work atmosphere where I have a home office so I can be close to my daughter. My husband is also my business partner and my number one taste tester!

BCM- Name your favorite Big City Moms event to date.
Sara -
I loved your last Mother's Day event.  Since this was the first Mother's Day where Lily was running and talking it was a great day.  We had a wonderful time.
