Reasons to Cloth Diaper:
Cloth diaper babies are toilet trained much earlier than disposable diaper babies.
Cloth diapers are softer on little bottoms than disposable diapers. Why put plastic on them?
Less diaper rash. 7% incidence of diaper rash for cloth diapered babies compared to 78% of babies in disposables.
No holding your nose while changing the “sausage” bag on a “Diaper Genie”.
Cloth Diaper Myths:
Toilet Dunking – Not a chance. Let the service or the washing machine do the work for you.
More work – Not as much as having to dress the baby and run out the door when you realize you’re out of disposable diapers.
Diaper pins – HA! Maybe when our grandmothers did it, but snaps or Velcro are the way to go now.
Cloth diapers are more expensive – Not even close. $1000-$2000 over the course of a child’s diapering years vs. $150-$300 for cloth and they can be used for subsequent children.
Environmentally:
Less garbage to haul out of the house.
Cloth diapers are gel free – no chemicals on your little ones bottom.
Americans spend nearly 300 million annually to discard disposable diapers.
It takes 286 pounds of plastic (including diaper packaging) per year to supply 1 baby in disposable diapers.
