A little boy is being hailed a hero after he saved his twin brother from a dresser that had fallen on top of him.
On Sunday, January 1st, Ricky Shoff shared a video on his Facebook page of his twin sons climbing on the dresser in their room and it falling on top of them. You watch as one little boy tries to lift and push the dresser off of his other brother until he is free. The video, which Shoff says he was hesitant to post, has been shared over 2,000 times on Facebook and the viewed over 890,000 times on YouTube.
This video is hard to watch, but it’s a reminder that all parents need.
“A lot of parents have probably made the same mistake that we made, (they) don’t have their furniture secure or bolted to a wall.” Ricky Shoff told CNN.
It was only when the boy’s mother checked the surveillance camera on the two-year olds’ room that she saw the dresser on the floor and immediately check the camera. Thankfully the boys escaped the incident without a scratch.
I have a two-year old little boy myself and this is something that he very well could have done. Watching this video was hard for me as my son loves to climb and I often let him play in his room by himself while I’m downstairs in our house. It’s an eye-opener for parents that we need to secure furniture to the walls. All of these little moments that can easily be thought of as “this will never happen to me,” but very easily could. And this video proves it.
