The Most Popular Baby Names of 2016

If you love the names Emma and Noah, so does the rest of the country. Emma and Noah remain at the top of  the list again this year for the third and fourth year in a row. The Social Security Administration released their list of the most popular baby names for newborns in 2016. The name looks very similar to last year with Olivia and Liam taking the number two spot again this year as well.

While the top ten list looks familiar, there were many changes in the overall list and it seems pop-culture is playing a role. The name Kylo moved up 2,368 spots in the past year. The rise in the release of Star Wars movies is most likely the reason for the big jump in the name as Kylo Ren was the villain in “The Force Awakens”. For the girls, Kehlani took the biggest jump in the last from last year moving up 2,487 spots.
