To All The Pregnant Mamas Feeling Less Than “Super”

There are plenty of times that the journey known as pregnancy can feel anything but super. Between the heartburn, stretch marks and aching back it’s way to become disheartened and forget about the bad assery that you are engaging in…*ahem*…creating human life! If that isn’t a super power than I don’t know what is.

Lucky for us, Gal Gadot, star of the new Wonder Woman movie, is here to remind us of just how awesome pregnant women can be.  Turns out, she was actually five months pregnant during some parts of the movie – including a fairly epic battle scene!

Apparently with only 4 months left of her pregnancy, Gadot had to return to the studio to finish up some reshoots and by that point things were definitely not inconspicuous. Thanks to the magic of a cut-out in her Wonder Woman costume and bright green cloth over her belly (i.e. a DIY “green screen”), they would be able to alter her belly in post-production to match up with the rest of the film. That said, Gal still had to bring all the fierceness of Wonder Woman – including some running and fight choreography – to the set.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gadot says that, “On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman. On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog.”

Even with a belly resembling Kermit the Frog, there is no denying that Gadot is the perfect representative of what pregnant women and mothers everywhere are capable of. You may not have the Wonder Woman suit to go with it, but we can all be reminded of just how “super” we really are.
