Kristin Przybylski heads up social media for LÍLLÉbaby, a Scandinavian-inspired line of baby carriers. We spoke with her about the benefits of babywearing, what it’s like to work for a family-friendly company and her simple but poignant advice for her kids—and other moms.
Tell us about your role at LÍLLÉbaby.
I get to interact with our community of fans on a daily basis by creating live videos, engaging on our various social media platforms and sharing a little bit of the magic that makes LÍLLÉbaby such a great place to work.
What’s something that’s surprised you about babywearing?
How truly helpful in every day life it really is. With my first child (who had colic and reflux), babywearing was the *only* way anyone in our house was able to sleep. With my second and third children, babywearing helped me to keep up with my older kiddo(s) while still getting to bond, snuggle and enjoy my newborn. It truly became my second set of hands and my childrens’ safe place. I still love being able to carry my four-year-old when he asks. These moments go by so fast that I love being able to share that bond with each of them for as long as possible.
Does LÍLLÉbaby have any new products you’re particularly excited about?
SO many! This year we’ve launched a partnership with Disney Baby to create fun products and accessories, but we’re just getting started. There is so much more to come!
If you could hand off one chore to someone else each day, what would it be?
Cooking. I looooove to eat, but I hate to cook/prepare meals. If I could have a personal chef prepare meals for me and my family on the daily, I would be in heaven!
What is your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind?
I really love watching reality TV! I also love to read, but if I’m honest, I haven’t had a chance to curl up with a good book in a long time!
What is the best white lie that you’ve told your child?
I’m a big fan of the Capture the Magic app. It lets you add Santa, the Tooth Fairy and other magical beings to your real life surroundings. My kiddos love seeing their house/bedroom with these fantasy characters, so I keep it going for the fun. Part of me knows that they know it’s not real, but at this stage of their lives, a little magic works for us.
If you could describe motherhood/fatherhood in one word, what would it be?
What’s one moment in your motherhood journey that has made you proud?
Seeing my childrens’ resilience. Whether it’s my oldest trying to master a new sport, my middle learning to ride his bike and the baby figuring out the magnetic letters and how they fit in the musical bus, watching them struggle, get frustrated and continue trying is beyond inspirational.
What is one piece of advice you want to pass along to your children?
To just be kind. It’s so easy to fall into negativity and judging others before we get to know them. I want my kids to always remember to be kind and to give others a chance.
What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?
It’s the same advice I have for my kids—to just be kind! We are all in this beautiful mess called parenting together, even though the paths we take are different. I constantly say that parents are the experts in their children. Trust that we are all doing our best at any given time and give grace.
How do you tackle the work/life balance?
This is a tough one! I’ve learned to ask for help, I’ve learned to say no and I’ve learned that it’s okay to have a messy living room. I’m also so thankful to work for a company that truly values my experience as a working mom, understands family comes first and embraces and supports working parents. Whether we’re at an event and popping each others kiddos in a carrier to give mom a break, or letting a child sit on our lap during a conference call, I’m so grateful to be accepted by my company both as a professional and a mom.
What was the last book you read?
Time for Bed by Mem Fox! For me, I’ve actually *just* ordered I’ll be gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. While I technically haven’t started it yet, I’m SO excited to begin!
Favorite Beauty Product:
I’m OBSESSED with Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. It makes me feel put together with VERY little effort.
Favorite Form of Exercise:
I really like workout DVD’s for home. When I’m kid-free, I’m a big fan of pilates classes.
What is on your DVR?
Married at First Sight, Teen Mom, Real Housewives…SO much reality TV! #guiltypleasure
Qeepsake. It isn’t really an app, but more of a text messaging service, but it makes me feel like I’m not totally failing at documenting my kids’ childhood!
Favorite Kids Store:
Old Navy, Target and Nordstrom Rack. My boys live in athletic gear/clothes, and I can’t resist the Cat and Jack line at Target or the fun options at Old Navy!
