A Chat with Supermom, Jenni Pulos, Author, Actress, Children’s Rapper, & Executive Producer

We’ve watched as she’s opened up about her life on Bravo’s Flipping Out, while also providing comedic relief that we all need after a long day with the kids, Jenni Pulos is the best friend that we wish we always had. Pulos, who has a daughter, Alianna, and is pregnant with her second daughter, is not only someone we love to watch on our television, but she’s also an actress, comedian, writer, producer and rapper.

You opened up about your infertility, including your miscarriage, last season on Flipping Out. Why do you think it was so important for others to see your struggle to conceive?

I wanted to give others hope and motivation to never give up. I felt discouraged so often in the first part of the process; I didn’t want that for someone else. Also, I wanted to share that I believe miracles can trump medicine.

What advice would you give to other couples that are going through the same thing that you went through?

Don’t give up. You will feel extreme highs and lows, stay on the course. Believe. Leave no stone unturned and research more then one doctor before making a decision.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! What has been your favorite thing that you’ve experienced this pregnancy?

That I had one embryo. One chance. It came together with God’s grace.

We are big fans of your kids album and we know you have a new album coming out! What can you tell us about that?

The new project is going to blow the kiddos away.

You split your time between New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles! What’s your best tip for traveling with kids?

Prayer and a DVD player with plenty of good (age appropriate) videos.

If you could hand off one chore to someone else each day, what would it be?

Organizing the playroom – somehow it goes from tidy to hurricane in a millisecond.

What is your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind?

Currently, it’s getting in my bed as soon as humanly possible.

What is your best parenting hack?

Get them involved young with the things/errands you do each day so they can come along. Alianna is an amazing customer at the nail salon. Also, checking in often (with fun pictures of what you are doing throughout the day), makes them feel as if they are spending the day with you, even as a working mom!

What is the best white lie that you’ve told your child?
I may have a police officer come and live with us (and stay in the hallway) if she doesn’t stay in her bed.

If you could describe motherhood/fatherhood in one word, what would it be?

Challenging… but also phenomenal.

What’s one moment in your motherhood journey that has made you proud?

That my daughter says she loves me with all her heart.

What is one piece of advice you want to pass along to your children?

Work, don’t worry.

What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?

Run your own race. Don’t compare yourself to other moms.

How do you tackle the work/life balance?

Ha ha. I’m not sure I am.

What was the last book you read?

Fancy Nancy Tea For Two

What’s in your diaper bag?

Too much crap.
