BCM: How did your life change when you became a mom?
MS: Your life changes completely! There is a perfect little being that becomes the center of your universe. The word selfish ceases to exist.
BCM: What has/have been your most memorable moment(s) as a mom?
MS: We call it the Stuber family kiss. It’s when Brooks puts one arm around my neck and the other around Scott’s and pulls us both close and the same time for a kiss. I hope we keep that moment going on for a very long time!
BCM: What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood. Any advice for new moms?
MS: Wanting to be six places at once! I had to learn that you can’t be everywhere and everything for everybody. Being a new mom can be overwhelming. Do not get hung up on being the “perfect” mom. There is no such thing! When Brooks was first born I drove myself a little batty trying to make everything just so. You do the very best that you can and that becomes your perfection.
BCM: Congratulations on your first book, The Everyday Supermodel: My Beauty, Fashion, and Wellness Secrets Made Simple. What was your inspiration that led you to write this lifestyle book?
MS: If you look good, you feel good and EVERYONE deserves to feel good! I’ve been blessed to work with incredibly talented people in fashion, beauty and wellness and I love sharing all the tips and tricks I’ve learned through the years. I’m the one my girlfriends call for advice. Think of my book is a “hotline” to all my secrets.
BCM: Can you share some Secrets Made Simple for expectant moms? What are your go-to products while expecting this time?
MS: I’ve moved toward eliminating all chemicals in my home cleaning products. I really like the entire line from Murchison hume. For beauty products that are pregnancy safe, I like Indie Lee. I use an organic non-aluminum deodorant. I love using almond oil on my skin, too.
BCM: You’re expecting, promoting your book, have Brooks at home — how do you manage your work/life balance (and always look great doing it)?
MS: I firmly believe in work hard/play hard and I really strive for that balance. I’m the queen of making lists… Santa Claus has nothing on me!! From “to do” lists to making a list of my goals for the year, I do my very best to stay organized so I can be productive.
BCM: What are your favorite activities to do with Brooks? What has been your bestvacation so far as a family?
MS: We love to bake together. Brooks loves helping me in the kitchen. He’s my number 1 taste tester… especially if we are making cookies!! Any vacation where we can swim! We all LOVE the water. If there’s a pool, beach or ocean;my little family is all over it!
