BCM: If you could describe motherhood in one word, what would it be?

AL: Extraordinary

BCM: What’s one moment in your motherhood journey that has made you proud?

AL: Learning to tune out the world, get on the floor and be with my children.

BCM: What is one piece of advice you want to pass along to your children?

AL:  To be able to embrace the magic of life

BCM: You have had such an incredible career and still have so much on the horizon. What are you most excited about that’s coming up for you?

AL: Can’t wait to start shooting my new TV Series “Pitch.” It’s truly an inspiring story. The character I play is a spitfire and I love how she tries to navigate the male-dominated industry of sports. She’s a woman in a man’s world and Pitch explores everything that comes with that. I think the script will inspire everyone because the message is powerful – it doesn’t matter your gender, race, sexual orientation, you should be able to do what your heart desires in this world. And being a mother, that’s just something that I think about all the time.

BCM: As a parent, it’s hard to juggle everything between the kids, work, and the household duties. What is one tip you have to keep your home healthy and happy?

AL: One of my favorite things to do is to cook with my kids – which sometimes means my kitchen is a disaster! When we are baking, scrambling eggs or making French toast, messes are bound to happen and sometimes we are left with raw eggs dripping on the counter! Since raw eggs and meat can carry foodborne illnesses and bacteria, it’s important to not only clean but to disinfect before and after cooking. We use Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, because I know they are tough on messes and kills 99.9 percent of viruses and bacteria while leaving my kitchen counters clean and germ-free.

BCM: What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?

AL:  To laugh when you want to cry

BCM: How do you tackle work/life balance?

AL:  I don’t! Whoever has it figured out, please let me know! I enjoy being able to do the work that I love, and I hope my children see and understand that. But when I’m not on set, I try to do it all with my family.

BCM: What is your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind?

AL: Get a massage or meet up with my girlfriends for a great lunch!

BCM: What is your best parenting hack?

AL: I feel like bins are a huge deal. I think it’s important to try to categorize toys and separate into different bins so everything isn’t mounded together. If you end up mixing all of your toys into one big pile, then kids don’t even play with them because it becomes too overwhelming.

BCM: What was the last book you read?

AL: “When Breath Becomes Air” by Paul Kalanithi

BCM: If you could hand off one chore to someone else each day, what would it be?

AL:  Dishes
