BCM: If you could describe motherhood in one word, what would it be?

CNG: Growth

BCM: What’s one moment in your motherhood journey that has made you proud?

CNG: It’s every time I see one of the kids choose to go outside their comfort zone.

BCM: What is one piece of advice you want to pass along to your children?

CNG:  That no emotion lasts more than 60 seconds, so don’t create a story. You feel your emotions, let them come, feel them and then let them go — all unnecessary drama and stress comes from adding a story to keep our negative emotions alive.

BCM: Congratulations on the success of SmartyPants Vitamins, a delicious way for kids and adults to get their vitamins! What was your inspiration behind the gummy vitamin?

CNG: Being human was the only inspiration we needed! I mean, we are just like our other customers — way too much to do, too much guilt and stress, and wanting the best for ourselves and our kids while not having $400/month to spend on vitamins for everyone — so we designed our all in one complete gummies from the ground up to solve all the challenges that make it tough to consistently stick with any kind of vitamin regimen and feel good about what we are taking.

BCM: SmartyPants is not only about ensuring that you get your daily intake of necessary vitamins, but it’s also about making sure the entire family is active. What is your favorite outdoor activity to do with your family?

CNG: I like group hikes in nature with creatures to look for, or really just playing on the lawn!

BCM: What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?

CNG:  That no one can tell you what being a good mom means — no one is perfect, no matter what it looks like on social media!

BCM: How do you tackle work/life balance?

CNG: I don’t use the word balance. I think of it more like skiing the best run of my life with an avalanche not too far behind — stay present, remember i chose it, and enjoy it. Focus on the really important stuff (whether work or home) and ignore the rest — and if it catches you, don’t stop moving your arms until you get to fresh air!

BCM: What was the last book you read?

CNG: When Breath Becomes Air — completely extraordinary, devastating, and one of the best meditations on death I have read.

BCM: If you could hand off one chore to someone else each day, what would it be?

CNG:   I would hand off picking up dog poop!

BCM: What is the best white lie that you’ve told your child?

CNG: “We were taking a nap.”

BCM: What is your best parenting hack?

CNG: My best parenting hack is letting the kids own their own playdates! A while ago, I stopped planning entertainment and let them learn how to ask for what they want. It lightened the planning load!

BCM: What is your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind?

CNG: I love to hike and run with my dogs, do yoga, read on the front lawn with kids, hubby, pooches, a nice latte in hand and the Sunday New York Times; or go to a dinner party combining old friends and some new ones.
