BCM: If you could describe motherhood in one word, what would it be?
LR: Love
BCM: What’s one moment in your motherhood journey that has made you proud?
LR: There are so many proud moments. The biggest moments are always when your see your children being kind and compassionate, when you realized they turned out to be good people.
BCM: What is one piece of advice you want to pass along to your children?
LR: My mom always said to me “you can do anything except biting your nose!” She also always said “it is never easy to be anybody” I think I pass equally both of them on to my children. That so much is possible if you set your mind to it and to recognize that everyone struggles with some things.
BCM: Congratulations on your company Glamourmom which has grown tremendously over the past years. What was your inspiration behind your line of Nursing Tanks, Tops and Gowns?
LR: I came up with the idea of a Nursing Bra Tank in year 2000 when I was breastfeeding my first daughter, she was my first inspiration. Breastfeeding three children continued to inspire me to design new options and styles within the line of built-in nursing bras.
BCM: Style and comfort are two of the most important aspects of your line and you have such a great variety. How does Glamourmom help moms know what is best for them and their nursing needs?
LR: Breastfeeding is not always easy and support helps. Glamourmom is recognized as the expert in the design we first introduced to the market, making a variety of options to accommodate every body type, inspired and always designed with the new nursing mom in mind. A well-fitting garment can give you the proper comfortable breast support, access to feed the baby and discretion when nursing in public. Many moms over the past decade have told us that our tanks make them “feel normal again” because it is the fit and style they were used to wearing pre-pregnancy. They tell us they “live in them”, breastfeed longer and feel good about themselves while wearing our nursing bra tanks and tops.
BCM: What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms?
LR: Having a new baby is a lot about phases and changes. It might be good to remember that sometimes it is a struggle at first to get going with breastfeeding for example, but it usually gets easier and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you gave your child the best start in life and it is a great bonding. Try to pause and soak in all of the precious moments. Remember to enjoy and hang in there through the rough patches, it will all pass.
BCM: How do you tackle work/life balance?
LR: I became a mom and an entrepreneur at the same time and to me it is a lifestyle well integrated into each other. I have great flexibility, but I am rarely completely off work. It is a fluid balance very engrained in me at this point and it just works!
BCM: What is your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind?
LR: Reading or listening to music. I also love to watch movies as a family, I have two teenagers now so the choices are more interesting.
BCM: If you could hand off one chore to someone else each day, what would it be?
LR: Laundry…it never ends…
